OK, so I won't go into details, but my wife and I spend a fair amount of time at doctor's offices. A couple of specialists offices had a coffee machine in the waiting rooms.

Now, this wasn't your run of the mill coffee pot brewing system, so it caught my eye. It had a sleek, modern look to it. Charcoal grey in color with chrome accents and neon blue lights and buttons. Oh, and did I mention, it has an LCD screen. I mean, really... The geek in me was dying to play with this coffee machine.

Although, as I would soon discover, they made this brewer with simplicity in mind from start to finish. Not sure how to use this thing and, admittedly, a bit intimidated by it's space-age appearance, I approached it with caution. I sifted through the variety of coffee flavors and found one that looked good - if I remember correctly, it was Gloria Jean's Capuccino. Oh, by the way, the coffee comes in little single shot cups which are called k-cups with just enough coffee grounds to brew a single cup of coffee.

Visibly, the most notable feature is the chrome arm that locks down on the little cup you insert into the machine. With a fair amount of intimidation, I lifted up on the arm and took a sigh of relief. My wife calls me a gorilla, because I gorilla-ize everything with my not so gentle touch. Anyway, it seemed obvious enough and it was. I placed the k-cup into the k-cup slot and closed down the arm. I could here the brew needles pierce the vacuum tight seal on the k-cup. The sound pleased the gorilla in me. :)

I then looked and saw (on this model) there was a button with half a cup of coffee and one that was full. Well, no half cup of coffee was going to do me, so I placed my coffee cup into the machine (it's very obvious where this goes) and pressed the button for a full cup of coffee.

I must say, I've never had so much fun with a new coffee pot. But, I watched as it very quickly heated the water and began brewing my coffee. Seconds later, I had a full cup of freshly brewed coffee. Yeah, that's right. This is not some water heater that uses instant coffee. It uses real coffee beans ground up to a french-press quality grind.

The coffee?

It was delicious. Fortunately for me, the doctors had real half-n-half instead of non-dairy powder.

YUM! Fresh, real, and robust brewed coffee, in seconds. I was in heaven!

I LOVE KEURIG COFFEE BREWERS!
